Getting back to it.

Yeah, yeah it's been a week since my last workout/post. It's just when the weather is warm I have NO motivation to run. I don't like to run in the heat, but HATE running in the gym. The morning is the best to run, weather-wise, but it's SO EARLY! So let's say again...I've had motivation problems.Luckily, Alex likes (LOVES) to run. I convinced him we were going to run in the AM, BUT IT WAS HIS JOB TO MAKE SURE I WAS UP AND READY! Needless to say, he made sure I ran.

We started off with stretching, and a warm-up walking block. Normal, right? Yeah, he wasn't used to either. When he runs, he just goes straight into a run. Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.

Moving on...so we started our 4-5 miles loop. I made sure to warn him REPEATEDLY that I am NOT fast by ANY means. I still don't think he believed me. So I chugged along, with my headphones in.

He ran circles around me at one point (literally) but I kept chugging along.

We ran down Washington Blvd....turned on 10th St....then up to Fairfax Dr.....then all the way up to Glebe. That's about 2.5 miles. Once at Glebe, it was "walking-cool-down-time". YAY!

So we walked the rest of the route home, about 2.2 miles (which is fine with me, because we still RAN more than we WALKED!).

After we got back to my house...we had a BANGING breakfast wrap.

Hopefully I can keep up the workouts though...

Will Spicy Show?

Sunday night Spicy and I decided we REALLY needed to get back on track for this whole "apes is running a marathon" nonsense. We decided we would get back to it on Monday, no excuses this time.

Monday morning I wake up, snooze a little...and head to the meeting spot. On the way I texted Spicy "Your ass better be on the way to the shop" (shop = our meeting spot for our morning workouts). No answer, so I HOPED he was on his way.

Once I arrived at the shop...there was no familiar Jeep waiting for me. So I waited for a little, and when there was still no sign of Spicy, I decided to once again run by myself.

So I got out, did some stretching, and joined the rest of the early birds that were out enjoying their morning run.

"What a lovely morning for a run"

I did my normal loop to Glebe and back to the shop, then went a little further, so I probably got in about 3.4 miles. I really need to get in on a race with a long distance so I can see what I can do.

Today was a rest, and tomorrow I'll be back on streets in the AM for another run, not really counting on Spicy showing up again either (even though he says he will).

There's no Vacation from working out!!

For the long Memorial Weekend, I headed to my favorite place....

THE BEACH!!!!

Every summer some of my fellow ADPi's and I grab a house in the OBX (Outer Banks, NC) and spend a weekend/week/few days/etc. just catching up, relaxing, and most importantly BEACHING!!!!

This year we decided to go for the super crowded Memorial Day weekend. I ended up taking off work for 4 days, so I got a SIX DAY WEEKEND!!! WOO-HOOO. I was ONE HAPPY APES.

But the vacation posed a question...can I still sit on the beach with a drink in my hand for days on end and STILL keep up my work out??

I sure CAN!!

Saturday morning I slept in a little while the house went to breakfast, and then I got up for a run. As I ran, the house drove past on their way home. I ran starting at our place (I judged my distance by the mile post signs) and did a loop of about 3 miles (probably closer to 3.1). I didn't run on the beach itself, as it just doesn't work for me. So instead I ran in the shoulder on the main road off of the beach.

Sunday I was a little hungover (thanks to our fav bar - the Brewing Station) and didn't think I could handle a run. So instead I took cupcake (my bike, for you new readers) for a ride to see some friends. The Gonzalez (Guillermo, Oscar) family was staying a few miles down the road and I wanted to stop by and visit them all. So I rode down to see them, visited for a few, then biked back. It was a little shy of 10 miles, but it was still a nice little ride. Plus I got to see some of my favorite guys from college!!!

That was my only working out during the vacation....unless you count dancing the night away.

So just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you have to give up working out!!! (wow - could that sound ANY more lame?!?!).
